"SCOTLAND" CARRE HERMÈS VINTAGE

« SCOTLAND » 

Né en 1903 dans la ville de Sheffield dans le Yorkshire du Sud, en Angleterre, l’illustrateur de ce carré Hermès, Philippe Ledoux, a été le premier designer et artiste de la maison Hermès pendant 40 ans. Ce carré Hermès en twill de soie aux bords roulottés main se décline sur fond beige et ivoire aux bordures gris perle, dans un camaieu de couleurs bleu, vert, jaune....

Encadré par des tartans, on retrouve les costumes des personnages militaires Ecossais  au cours des siècles, (Highlanders), entourées de cornemuses, couteau Dirk, épée Broadsword, chardons… etc.

Edité en 1963 dans sa première édition, il est toujours recherché  par les collectionneurs, amateurs et designers d’intérieur, il a ensuite été réédité en 1974, 1981 et 1995.

Cet exemplaire de la première édition en 1963 en fait un carré de 62 ans d’âge très recherché. Il est en bon état d’origine, d’usage et de conservation tant au niveau de la soie que des couleurs toujours bien saturées compte tenu de son ancienneté. (voir les détails sur les photos). This square Hermès in silk twill with hand rolled edges is declined on a beige and ivory background with pearl gray borders, in a camaieu of blue, green, yellow...

First published in 1963, it is still sought after by collectors, amateurs and interior designers; it was then reissued in 1974, 1981 and 1995.

Framed by tartans, we find the costumes of Scottish military characters over the centuries, (Highlanders), surrounded by bagpipes, knife Dirk, sword Broadsword, chardons... etc.

This copy of the first edition in 1963 makes it a very sought-after 62 year old square. It is in good condition of origin, use and conservation both in terms of silk and colors always well saturated given its age. (see details on the photos). Dimensions 90 X 87 cm, no hole, no stain.
